An excerpt from a poem Checkers sent to us by Alice E. Chase:

"I will miss you little friend,
For I could never measure
The happiness you brought me,
The comfort and the pleasure.
And since God put you here to share
In earthly joy and sorrow;
I'm sure there'll be a place for you
In Heaven's bright tomorrow...

  4. I know it may be impossible for you to even imagine, but there will come a time when another golden will enter your life for you to love and to share your home.

You'll bring that dog home and when you least expect it...there will be a familiar jingle of collar tags and a shadow around the corner you can't quite place...until you realize that it was Honey who led you, gently, but firmly to find your new friend.

With her final earthly task completed, she will return to the Bridge to wait for you, her best friend, to spend eternity together.

  9. My mom is leaking a lot....Honey reminds her of her barkers who are now waiting at the Rainbow Bridge...especially one...Zac. He was very special like your Honey.

In your hearts, as well as these electronic pages, you have lots of memories - not only for yourselves, but for all of those who loved Honey ...

Keeping you in our thoughts always,

  14. When I first visited Honey's blog I fell in love with her picture at the top of the page. It made me feel happy. I soon learned it wasn't the picture that made me smile it was Honey herself.

  16. Hello - this is the other Honey (Honey the Great Dane) - I only just heard - so sorry I am late! I just wanted to come and give some slobbers and say how sorry I am to hear about the lovely Honey...I am sure she is happy and well again and waiting for you by the Bridge...

I am so sorry I didn't have a chance to get to know Honey before she went but I can tell from all the comments and pictures and mentions that she was a very special girl who touched everyone's heart.

  17. Yes, I agree, she may be gone but never forgotten. If it's okay, I'd also like to borrow your lovely rainbow for my sidebar as a dedication to Honey for all to see. Please let me know if that's okay.

  19. That's a very nice rainbow for Honey. You will miss her and you will keep shedding tears. Those tears starts out as sad but trust me, it will become happy, comforting tears as time goes by. I still think of Cody(my first golden) from time to time and still shed a little tears from time to time and that was almost 10 years ago.

  27. THE RAINBOW BRIDGE
There is a Bridge connecting Heaven & Earth. It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of it's many colors. Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge, there is a land of meadows, hills and valleys with lush green grass.
When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place. There is always food and water and warm spring weather. The old and frail animals are young again. Those who are maimed are made whole again. They play all day with each other.
There is only one thing missing. They are not with their special person who loved them on Earth. So, each day they run and play until the day comes when one suddenly looks up! The nose twitches. The ears are up. The eyes are staring. And this one suddenly runs from their group.
You have been seen, and when you and your special friend meet, you take him or her in your arms and embrace. Your face is kissed again and again and again, and you look once more into the eyes of your trusting pet.
Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together, never again to be separated.

  32. Hello~
I found your blog from Adventures of Harry.
I'm so deeply sorry for your loss and know that this is a difficult time for all.
I also lost my pal Hershey, of 12 years on Feb. 22, 2009. Hershey was everything to me. Not a day, a minute goes by that I don't think and miss him still. Reading about Honey made me cry-cry for you, Honey, Hershey and the pain of losing a pet (family member). But one thing that makes me feel better is that he is out of pain in a much better place.
I now poor even more love on my other boy, Yager, who will be 8 on July 1st.
Again, I'm deeply sorry for your loss.
    Hugs, Gayla
