HONEY LOVE

Honey left us today, she couldn't fight. Her eyes, her breath, her heart....we have been trying to imagine her somewhere beautiful, with lots of sticks, lakes, other furries...waiting for us at some of our favorite places... leaving her spirit here and there with us....
This has been a heart-breaking day. We cannot stop our tears. Dave and I have been celebrating her, crying for her, trying to come to peace with her struggle....and her little body that couldn't fight anymore.
Always a big love for this special golden that followed us on many adventures, comforted us when we were sad, made us laugh at silly things....and waited for us, until her last day.
Honey love.

  1. Oh, I am so sorry. I've been there twice...once with a 16 year old Springer and then with a 15 year old Springer. Nothing can ease the pain of losing such a wonderful friend. I wish you well in the coming days.

  3. I had THAT feeling since I read your post this morning...

I khan't find the words right now - please know we are proud of you for the unselfish gift you gave Honey...

It is the greatest demonstration of love...because it causes both of 'us' the most pain...we leave you and you lose our PHYSICAL presence...WE will always be there!

PeeEssWoo: Now to amend my post for tomorrow...Honey will be there along with Charlie! Perhaps they've already found each other!

  8. We are so sorry for your loss. Here's a poem mom put at Keats' grave

Your favorite chair is vacant now...
No eager barks to greet me.
No softly padded paws to run
    Ecstatically to meet me.
No coaxing rubs, no plaintive cry
Will say it's time for feeding.
I've put away your bowl, and all
    The things you won't be needing;
But I will miss you little friend,
    For I could never measure
    The happiness you brought me,
    The comfort and the pleasure.
And since God put you here to share
    In earthly joy and sorrow;
I'm sure there'll be a place for you
    In Heaven's bright tomorrow...

  9. We are so sorry to hear the news. It was the final act of love to help Honey cross the bridge. Let the tears flow and continue to talk with her. Honey's spirit is still with you and she'll hear you.

We'll light a candle for Honey tonight and ask our beloved Tasha to invite Honey to run and play in the moonlit fields tonight.

  10. Ms. Kristin and Mr. Dave,
Honey is still within you, she'll always be there. Our mom and dad really do know how you feel. They have gone through this more times than they care to remember and will be enduring it yet many more times to come. The first few days are very difficult, the emptiness of Honey's favorite places, the sight of her toys and bedding, her collar and leash will all trigger deep emotions. You will cry as you should, you have after all, lost a friend and confidant; a child. In a short while the realization of her loss will settle on you and the fond memories of her tugging or barking or cuddling with you will be with you always. Honey lived a full life, but more importanly she lived a happy life because she was loved and cared for by the two human beings that she trusted and loved more than anything. You forged fond memories together and they will always be with you. She will never leave you; we know that to be a truism many times over. You'll need time to reflect on your loss and your memories, but eventually you'll feel the void in your hearts. You will never be able to replace Honey and it unfair of you to even think to try. But you may find the day will come when you can fill the void in your hearts with a different companion, one who will love you every bit as much as Honey did, one who needs someone to love and someone to love them. We are weeping with you at the time of your great loss. We will howl for Honey but know she has met some new friends at The Rainbow Bridge: Old Bear Dog, Rusty, Penny, Chance, Gordon and Kodi, our brothers and sister are waiting there for mom and dad. They are all as young as we can imagine them. They are all whole in body and in spirit. They are as we most fondly remember them to be. They are drawing eternal life from our own being and souls. We wish Honey her rest in peace and comfort. We can only give you our deepest sympathy and a thank you for taking good care of our sister Honey while she was entrusted to you.

You have been so brave on carrying through this last act.
You caring and loving Honey in life and in death was felt by her.
My advice is go right ahead and cry - what else would you do when you have lost a dearly loved companion.
If you dont mind I would like to remember Honey on our blog today - we only came to know you recently but she has touched our hearts.

    We Have A Secret

We have a secret, you and I
that no one else shall know,
    for who but I
    can see you lie
    each night by fire glow?
    And who but I
    can reach my hand
    before we go to bed
and feel the living warmth of you
    and touch your silken head?
And only I walk woodland paths
    and see ahead of me
your small form racing with the wind
    so young again, and free.
And only I can see you swim
    in every brook I pass
and when I call, no one but I
    can see the bending grass.

  98. Sooo, so sorry to hear of your loss. HuMom has been leaking from her eyes a lot cuz she just lost someone to cancer too. And then she read how Honey went on before you on the same day she lost her friend. Maybe they are playing together!
